London wedding // Mel + Taufik

What a way to start the year! This was my first wedding of the year after a couple of months off, and it couldn’t have been a more awesome couple. Mel and Taufik got married at One Great George Street in London, and they threw such a fun party.

But I have to start at the beginning. Something wonderful happened that has never happened before, and it almost brought me to tears. You know how sometimes brides make matching wedding morning mugs for all the bridesmaids with all their names on? Well Mel made me one too! I always pride myself on being one of the guests at my wonderful couples’ weddings, but never have I felt more like one of the gang. Then I got to the ceremony, said hi to the groom Taufik, and he pointed to a chair at the front that said ‘reserved’ on it, next to where the bridesmaids would sit, and said “we’ve reserved that spot for you”. My heart exploded with love for these two.

The day before the wedding, we realised there was an NHS demonstration in Westminster, right outside the wedding venue. A lovely policeman let us through the blocked off street (then announced his congratulations using a traffic cone as a loudspeaker), and we got there on time – phew! Later on we popped out to take some portraits, and joined in the demonstration! The day flew so fast, ending with a good boogie session to awesome 90s music.

Here’s their story: We met in late 2008 at work but didn’t get together until early 2010 when Taufik had already signed a contract to go on secondment to Munich for 18 months! It was a hard (and expensive) 18 months flying back and forth every weekend BUT we had some really great times. We spent many long lazy days spent in the Hirschgarten (our favourite beer garden) and ate way too many wurst!

Skip forward to August 2015. Five and a half years, a house purchase, adopting a cat and countless adventures later we headed off to Morocco for a week alone. Taufik insisted that we spend a night in the desert. We headed off on our private tour across the Atlas Mountains to Ouarzazate. We explored some absolutely beautiful places on the way despite the 46 degree heat. I would later regret this. We enjoyed a delicious dinner prepared by the Berbers before I was struck by horrendous sun stroke. What followed was one of the worst nights of my life! Our romantic Berber tent felt like an oven and I spent the night trekking back and forth to the toilet tent to be sick. Little did I know that Taufik had planned to propose under the star studded desert night sky. 5am finally comes round and Taufik suggested get some fresh air so we relocated to a near by sand dune where we sat for over an hour to enjoyed a beautiful sunrise over the mountains, and that is when Taufik asked me to marry him 🙂

So now we will be celebrating our 7 year anniversary in quite some style! The Seven Year Hitch!!

“We absolutely loved every minute with Anna. She is fun, professional, warm and a genuine lady. I hate taking pictures and she made it totally painless because I trusted her. Literally every guest she spoke to, approached us and commented on how great she was. You need Anna at your wedding, full stop.” Mel + Taufik
