I absolutely love disused industrial buildings, so when this enquiry from Gemma and Andy popped up in my inbox I was so excited! And it didn’t disappoint. West Mill Derby has only just started holding weddings, so it felt super special to shoot there. What made it even better was that I’d already shot two weddings of guests at this wedding, and so had already met the lovely Gemma and Andy before – and there were lots of familiar faces, with new babies – and new bumps! Gemma and Andy made loads of cotton themed decorations, which were so fitting with the mill, and the venue, set over four massive floors, still had lots of touches left from the days of being a working cotton mill, such as old fuse boxes, workers’ pigeon holes and the sort of cabinets you’d pay hundreds for at a vintage store. They’d also left the rusty ceilings, mismached flooring and beams intact, which added to the beauty.
